Stephen Ministers are laypeople trained to provide one-on-one care to people in our congregation experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or divorce.

Stephen Ministers are Christian men and women coming from all walks of life with a willingness to bring Christ’s love and care to hurting people. They complete a 50 hour training course and agree to monthly peer supervision meetings with other Stephen ministers, and are commissioned by the congregation.

Stephen Ministers usually provide care to one person at a time, meeting with them for about an hour each week. Stephen Ministers are held to a high degree of confidentiality.

Care receivers are usually members of the congregation. Men are paired with men; women are paired with women. That relationship is confidential. When a care receiver’s needs exceed what a Stephen Minister can provide the Stephen Ministry team suggests another resource to help.

If you need a care giver or know someone who does, please contact the pastor, church office or any Stephen Minister, or Sandy Smith, referrals coordinator.   If you would like to become a Stephen Minister please contact Sandy Smith for an application.
