Danny was born in Winston-Salem. Growing up, he was active in the United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts, and recreational sports. Danny graduated from Cary High School and went on to North Carolina State University. At N.C. State, he was active in the Raleigh Wesley Foundation and graduated from NCSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an engineer in Glasgow, VA and Charlotte. Danny answered the call to Ordained Ministry while he and his wife, Susan, were members of Matthews United Methodist Church in Matthews, N.C. He served as a Student Pastor while attending the Divinity School at Duke University, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree.

Bible Study, the Sacraments, preaching and missions stir Danny’s passion for ministry, as they provide the means for Jesus to make His presence and grace known in unexpected ways. Danny has served as a volunteer for food pantries, Reading Connections and Habitat for Humanity. He has served on District and Conference committees involved with Camping Ministries, Building & Church Location, as well as, Witness & Evangelism. Danny has recently become interested in reviving the Methodist Class Meeting in Local Churches. He is an Ordained Elder in the Western North Carolina Annual Conference and has served as the pastor of churches in Rockingham, Guilford, and Davidson Counties.

Danny and Susan were married in 1986. They have two children, Caroline (married to Dalton) and Billy. He enjoys reading, the outdoors, old cars and pretty much anything to do with N.C. State Sports.
